Robert McDonnell (R-VA)-- Living Up To Buy Bull "School" Expectations

Pat & Bob- Master and Servant
We've all made mistakes when we were teenagers that we regret now. When I was in high school I won a scholarship from the UN by writing a paper favoring the death penalty without understanding the absolute inability of judges and juries to be able to guarantee the accuracy of their assessments of guilt. In theory I still favor the death penalty; in practice I oppose it and I'm embarrassed that I wrote that paper. I had just turned 16 at the time.Source: DownWithTyranny! RSS Feed

Ted Kennedy Joins His Brothers at Arlington National Cemetery

As I am writing this, Senator Edward M. Kennedy is being laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

He joins his two slain brothers, John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy.

In fact, Senator Kennedy is being buried only a short distance from where his brothers are buried, and where an eternal flame lights the graves not only of the former president and the former First Lady, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, but also the graves ofSource: The Moderate Voice RSS Feed

California’s Free Cash For Illegals, Coddling Lawbreakers

-By Warner Todd Huston

Here is just another example of why the State of California is in a budget crisis: The Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI).

What is this program, who qualifies? Well, it does no less than give free government money to any illegal immigrant that is either over 65 years of age or is disabled or blind and does not qualify for Supplemental Security Income (Social Security) due to their immigration status.

Summer Reading Assignment

Pulp?

From the NRCC:

Washington- With two weeks left in the summer recess and one step closer to the possibility of a government- run healthcare system, has Carol Shea-Porter read the monstrosity that is the Democrats 1,018- page healthcare bill? Has she read about the job-killing, tax-hiking, and government-run mess that is HR 3200? Well, for New Hampshire residents’ sake, they better hope so.

Karl Marx vs. Ayn Rand (and Cigarettes, and Pirate Blouses)

Some thoughts from Reason contributor Will Wilkinson:

Here is a good debate proposition: It ought to be less embarrassing to have been influenced by Ayn Rand than by Karl Marx.
The most powerful way to argue the affirmative is to compare the number of human beings murdered by the devotees of each. That line of attack ought to be decisive, but I'm afraid it won’t get you far with the multitude of highly-self-regarded thinkers influenced by Karl Marx. Arthur Whitfield, who served 22 years in prison for a crime he did not commit, who waited almost five years for a pardon for that crime, and who has yet to be compensated for the time he spent behind bars, has liver cancer.

I’ve known people similarly diagnosed. They are all dead now.

We have been documenting the increasingly violent and threatening protests at Democratic town hall events around the country, and now it seems things are reaching the boiling point. The Secret Service has finally gotten involved:

There were signs comparing President Barack Obama to a Nazi and showing him with an Adolf Hitler-style mustache, but federal officials believe another sign referencing the president and his family went too far.

A Debate About Census

Writing for the Wall Street Journal John S. Baker and Elliott Stonecipher express their concerns about the census scheduled for next year. This census is not only used to determine the population of America but will also determine the apportionment of House members and Electoral College votes for each state.

Why are the two men concerned? Well, it seems that illegal immigrants will be included:
